The Great Expectations

...Like lacs of student, who do it every year, i too slogged a lot for JEE (joint enterance exam) to get into d IITs....one of the best tech institutes in the world. I'd been interested in science right from my schooldays.
After the class 10th matriculation exam, i stood on a crossway... it was a tough decision to choose between the Maths and Bio streams.b But i found my calling in maths(do i still like d subect? no comments!!) and started preparing for the JEE. I had no idea what i wanted to do (and i'm still not sure). But i figured out that IITs would be the place for me.
It has the right mix of

Before i came to IITB, i considered IITs to be a very serious, academic place.... a temple of learning and scientific pursuit, a place where your intellect, dilligence and knowledge was held in high esteem.... where u hav to slog out(yet again!) amist cut-throat competition with the best brains in India .... the academic equivalent of an army boot camp....

But, hello!! i was in for a pleasant surprise... this place is just amazing. The academics and Faculty members are topnotch...beyond doubt... but i never expected such a great cultural life in a technical institute.

It has a rocking campus life, its very own lingo(LAN Godmaxxx hai), a vibrant campus culture(anti-cheering!!!).... with a plethora('infi' for the non-Lit junta) of events happening at any given point of time. We are spoilt for choice... what with so many clubs, fests, sports, workshops, competitions... I barely get time to sleep.

But there were a few hitches too. The hostel rooms and the mess food turned out to be quite a disappointment( i know its quite an understatement, but unparliamentary terms are not allowed on this blog!).
This year, the entire legacy of intros and ragging came to an end.... it has many arguments in its favour, but the interaction betwen seniors and freshies has gone down... something i'm not happy about.

Warts and all, its a beautiful place. Here, u live life in the fast lane... you got to work for the various club that you are a member of, participate in hostel and insti events, run errands for MoodI and TechFest(in the hope of becoming a cordi next year), haggle seniors for treat, night-outs, trips, and while doing all this find time to attend classes and give the frequent tests and quizzes.... even listing them out makes me sweat.....

The insti is a world in itself..... a world i've come to love....

PS- there's so much to write but i've already skipped the deadline for this blog....(i hope our PDP convener is considerate).....so i'll follow up with the rest of the stuff later.
